Toyota gave an update on moving their North American Headquarters to Plano, TX. The company purchased 100 acres in the city located north of Dallas. They plan to build 7 buildings at the site, and will have about 800 people working here in North Texas by the end of the year. You can learn more about the move to Texas at the One Toyota Family website. Many people asked when Toyota will offer jobs to Texans. Job opportunities are first offered to those currently working for the company. However, when that process is complete, Toyota plans to offer jobs to Texans. Visit Toyota.com/careers to learn more about working for Toyota. Toyota is planning some big events in North Texas like the Toyota Texas Fest. The Toyota Texas Fest will include the Toyota Texas Bass Classic, the Loan Star Food Fest hosted by Dean Fearing, and concerts by Big & Rich , Lee Brice, and Kipp Moore. The vehicle is so new we could not even sit in it! But we did get a peak inside.

Great looking leather interior and smooth lines on the design of the vehicle. Making me have second thoughts on my 2015 Honda CR-V!  Mazda has really upped their game to compete in the SUV market. On March 17th they announced pricing for the vehicle. The CX-9 Sport will start at $31,520, CX-9 Touring starts at $35,970,  CX-9 Grand Touring starts at $40, 170, and last but not least the CX-9 Signature with all wheel drive standard will start at $44,015. The new CX-9 will be available in area dealerships June 16th. I’m interested in going on a test drive! Special thanks to Daryl at the Mazda booth, he was very courteous, and answered our questions on the vehicles in the Mazda line up.

Nissan

Nissan touted their newest model of the Nissan Sentra. The vehicle has seen an increase in sales, and is highest ranked by J. D. Power and Associates for vehicles in its class.

Nissan made some minor changes to the 2016 Sentra. A redesigned interior and exterior to provide a smooth quiet ride. There are 20% new parts, and technology features like Siri Eyes Free that works with the iPhone, so that drivers can focus on the road. The price range for the new Sentra goes from $16,780 to $25,000.

If you visit the DFW Auto Show this weekend be sure to take advantage of the Ride & Drives . Kia, Mazda, and Toyota vehicles are available for ride & drives at the convention center. Kia’s new 2017 Sportage is available to test drive. I was really impressed with the new Sportage. Sleek design, nice leather interior, and great tech features.

The new 2017 Sportage starts at 22,000.

The DFW Auto Show experience was great! I’m looking forward learning more about what car makers are offering to consumers and going on more adventures in the latest autos. Special thanks to She Buys Cars for making this experience possible and for the great Kate Spade Giveaway!

Spring Break 2016

Spring break is here and there are lots of great things to do in the metroplex. The DFW Auto Show runs from March 16-20th at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center in Dallas. An app for the auto show is available for download on your iPhone  or Android device !  I’m super excited about the auto show. Stay tuned for exclusive coverage here, and on Instagram at @ADanslevent. I’m sure that it will be just as cool as the Cadillac Road to Table experience I covered in the fall.

Other happenings for spring break include an opportunity for school faculty and staff to check out the Alamo Drafthouse . The new location on South Lamar is now open. Spring break would be a great time to visit and see a movie.  If you are a school faculty or staff member you can get free movie tickets! Just present a valid faculty ID from March 7-17! This is only valid at the Dallas and Richardson locations and some restrictions apply. For more info click here.

Six Flags Over Texas is also open for spring break. A season pass can be purchased to visit the park from March 10-March 20th.
